DARE TO DREAM GRANT
FOR
PERSONAL GROWTH, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, AND SERVICE
PRESENTED BY THE PATUXENT RIVER BRANCH, American Association of University Women
Description: To provide women in Southern Maryland with opportunities for personal growth, educational enrichment, or community service.
Eligibility & Review Criteria:
Women living in Calvert, Charles or St. Mary’s Counties age 18 years and older are eligible for this grant. Applications are reviewed based on the project or activity description on the attached application.
Application Deadline:
Applications will be accepted from February 1- April 15, 2012. Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee beginning April 15, 2012, and the recipient(s) will be announced by May 8, 2012.
Amount of Grant:
Applicants may request up to $300. One or more grants of $300 will be awarded, or multiple grants less than $300 will be awarded.
Application Review & Payment Procedure was to:
Complete and submit the Dare to Dream grant application between February 1 and April 15, 2012.
The Dare to Dream selection committee of the Patuxent River Branch of the AAUW will review each proposal and will notify the applicant by May 8, 2012 if funding has been awarded for the project/activity.
The project/activity must be completed within the period between May 15, 2012 and May 15, 2013.
Applicants may be asked to meet with the selection committee prior to final committee selection.
The grant committee will discuss with the recipient(s) how the grant will be paid.
Recipient(s) will be asked to share a summary of the completed project/activity at an AAUW meeting.
Decisions by the Dare to Dream Selection Committee are final.

Please provide the information requested following the numbered sequence. You may also attach supporting documentation if desired. .
1. APPLICANT INFORMATION: Name, address and zip code of person applying for the grant. Applicants must live in Southern Maryland, and be 18 or older. Provide your telephone number and an email address if available.
2. PROJECT/ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: Describe the project or activity for which funding is requested. Include specific information on the nature of the activity, where the activity will be taking place and other pertinent information. If coursework is involved, where will the course be taken? Is this a first-time project for you or a continuing experience? Who else might be involved? Specify the first and last dates of the activity. Activities need to begin after May 15, 2012 and end by May 15, 2013.
3. DESCRIBE THE VALUE OF THIS ACTIVITY TO YOU AND/OR YOUR COMMUNITY: Use the following questions as a guideline for your answer. What are your personal goals in being involved at this activity? How will the activity improve your life? What educational or cultural enrichment you anticipate? How will you and/or your community benefit from your participation in this activity?
4. GRANT AMOUNT REQUESTED FROM AAUW: Up to $300.
5. SPECIFY THE AMOUNT OF MONEY NEEDED FOR YOUR ACTIVITY: What is the total estimated cost of the activity?
6. NEED IS ONE CONSIDERATION IN AWARDING THE GRANT(S): Tell us more about your specific need(s.)
7. EVALUATION OF THE PROJECT/ACTIVITY: How you will measure the success or failure of your activity? What will make you feel good about its completion? AAUW looks forward to a summary of how the activity or project affected you—including how it contributed to your personal growth, your education, or your service to your community.
